14 Manipur Personnel Receive Gallantry and Service Medals on Republic Day 2026
A total of 14 personnel from Manipur were honoured with gallantry and distinguished service medals on the eve of Republic Day 2026, recognising their bravery, dedication and exemplary service to the nation.
They were among 982 personnel from the Police, Fire Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services across India who received honours this year.
Medal for Gallantry (MG)
Five Manipur Police personnel were awarded the Medal for Gallantry (MG) for acts of exceptional courage and bravery. The recipients are:
- Langoljam Lenin Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector
- Sidrath Thokchom, Assistant Sub-Inspector
- Thounaojam Nichal Singh, Havildar
- Kumam Premananda Singh, Rifleman
- Ngasepam Vim Singh, Constable
According to the official government statement issued on January 25, 2026, a total of 125 Gallantry Medals were awarded nationwide—121 to police personnel and four to fire service personnel.
President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM)
Shashikumar Singh Khuraijam, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Manipur, was honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM). Of the 101 PSM awards announced this year, 89 were given to police personnel, with the remaining awarded to Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards, and Correctional Services.
President’s Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM)
Seven Manipur Police personnel received the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM):
- Manbidhu Singh Rajkumar, Superintendent of Police
- Dr Ibomcha Singh Sarnagthem, Commandant
- Kshetrimayum Prasant Kumar Singh, Assistant Commandant
- Nekholal Gangte, Havildar
- Premchand Singh Chingkham, Rifleman
- Bijen Singh Pukhrambam, Assistant Sub-Inspector
- Kamlesang, Rifleman
Fire Service Award
From the Manipur Fire Service, Ranjitkumar Singh Chirom, Sub-Officer, was also among the award recipients.
The honours highlight the commitment, sacrifice and professionalism of Manipur’s security and emergency service personnel, especially in challenging conditions, and reflect their vital role in maintaining law, order and public safety.
