RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to Visit Manipur: A Visit Laden with Symbolism Amid Ethnic tensions
RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is set to travel to Manipur from November 20 to 22, 2025 — his first visit since the 2023 ethnic violence that deeply scarred the state. According to RSS officials, his trip coincides with the organisation’s centenary celebrations. During his stay, Bhagwat will meet entrepreneurs, tribal leaders, youth, and community representatives in Imphal and the hill districts. The visit underscores the RSS’s ambition to play a role in peacebuilding and community dialogue in a restive Manipur.
1. First Since 2023 Ethnic Violence
Bhagwat’s trip comes more than two years after violence erupted in Manipur. The timing is sensitive: the RSS chief, as the head of a major cultural-political organisation, carries symbolic weight in a state still grappling with inter-community divisions.
2. Centenary Celebrations of the RSS
According to RSS state general secretary Tarunkumar Sharma, Bhagwat’s visit is part of the organisation’s 100-year centenary. The visit is not purely political — it also ties into organisational legacy, outreach and cultural reaffirmation.
3. Dialogue and Outreach
• On November 20, he will meet with entrepreneurs, prominent citizens and local leaders in Imphal (Konjeng Leikai).
• On November 21, he plans to interact with tribal (Janajati) leaders from the hill regions of Manipur.
• According to RSS insiders, the agenda is largely “internal to the organisation” and does not include visits to displaced persons’ relief camps — though that omission may raise eyebrows in a conflict-affected state.
