Surat Tragedy: Kite String Slits Throat of 8-Year-Old Cycling Boy

An eight-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic kite string accident in Gujarat’s Surat district on Thursday. The victim, Rehansh Borse, was riding his bicycle with another child inside the compound of Anand Villa when a sharp kite string suddenly got entangled around his neck.

Police said the string caused a deep cut to the boy’s throat, forcing him to fall off the bicycle. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Rander Police Station Inspector RJ Chaudhary said the kite string was extremely sharp and had severely slit the child’s neck. Police reached the scene soon after receiving information and initiated necessary procedures.

The incident adds to a growing list of deadly kite string accidents reported across the country. Just a day earlier in Surat, a family of three fell from a 70-foot flyover after a kite string caused their two-wheeler to crash. The man and his seven-year-old daughter died on the spot, while the woman later succumbed to her injuries.

In another case, a 48-year-old motorcyclist died in Karnataka’s Bidar district after a kite string caused a deep neck injury, leading to excessive bleeding.

Authorities have repeatedly warned against the use of dangerous kite strings, especially synthetic and glass-coated ones, citing serious risks to public safety.
