Manipur BJP President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi Sworn In as Rajya Sabha MP

Imphal, June 29: Manipur BJP president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi was officially sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha on Monday after securing an unopposed victory for the state’s lone seat in the Upper House.

The oath of office was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan during a ceremony held in the Rajya Sabha Chamber. Along with Sharda Devi, six other newly elected and re-elected members from different states also took the oath.

Sharda Devi took her oath in the Manipuri language and was the sole representative from Manipur among the seven Members of Parliament sworn in. The remaining MPs represented Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.

Several prominent leaders attended the ceremony, including Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Leader of the House and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Rajya Sabha members Jairam Ramesh and Praful Patel, Secretary General P.C. Mody, and senior officials of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

Sharda Devi had been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha earlier this month, marking a significant milestone in her political career and strengthening Manipur’s representation in the Upper House of Parliament.
