Imphal, Manipur: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the draft electoral roll for Manipur, recording a total of 19,34,399 registered electors following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The revision achieved a 92.42% participation rate, with the period for filing claims and objections remaining open from July 5 to August 4, 2026.
The Special Intensive Revision, conducted by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, covered 20,93,076 eligible electors across the state. Between May 30 and June 28, a total of 19,34,399 voters submitted their enumeration forms for inclusion in the updated electoral roll.
Electorate Composition
According to the draft electoral roll, Manipur now has:
- 9,40,466 male voters
- 9,93,660 female voters
- 294 third-gender voters
The revised data reflects continued efforts to ensure an accurate and inclusive electoral database ahead of future elections.
Electoral Roll Updated
As part of the revision process, election officials removed ineligible entries from the voter list, including:
- 43,000 deceased voters
- 1,08,283 electors who had shifted residence
- 7,394 duplicate voter registrations
The Election Commission said these measures were taken to improve the accuracy and credibility of the electoral roll.
Greater Transparency and Improved Polling Infrastructure
To strengthen transparency during the revision exercise, the number of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) increased to 6,363, with representatives from 10 recognised political parties participating in the verification process.
The Commission has also expanded the number of polling stations from 2,956 to 3,041 to reduce voter congestion by limiting each polling station to a maximum of 1,200 electors. Special voting arrangements have also been planned for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Claims, Objections and Final Roll
Citizens who turned 18 years of age on or before July 1, 2026, and whose names are not included in the draft roll, can apply for registration by submitting Form 6 during the claims and objections period.
Election authorities stated that all claims and objections will be examined and disposed of by September 2, while the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026.
The Election Commission has encouraged eligible citizens to verify their details in the draft electoral roll and submit corrections or inclusion requests within the stipulated timeframe to ensure their participation in the democratic process.
