Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh Joins BJP Protest, Accuses Congress of Undermining Democracy
Imphal, July 22: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday participated in a sit-in protest alongside BJP MLAs and senior party leaders at Thambal Shanglen, Nityapat Chuthek, alleging that the Congress was attempting to create instability and undermine the country’s democratic institutions.
The demonstration was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as party leaders voiced their opposition to what they described as efforts to spread disorder and disrupt the democratic process.
Sharing his views through a social media post, the Chief Minister said that democracy should not be held hostage to political drama, manufactured unrest, or deliberate attempts to create chaos. He alleged that misinformation and attempts to create instability were intended to weaken democratic governance, adding that the people would ultimately hold those responsible accountable.
Khemchand Singh reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to upholding the Constitution, democratic values, peace, and responsible governance. He stated that the party would continue to oppose any attempts to incite unrest or create confusion among the public.
The Chief Minister further said that the BJP remains dedicated to protecting the rule of law, strengthening democratic institutions, and ensuring the welfare, security, peace, and overall development of the people of Manipur and the country.
The sit-in protest was attended by BJP legislators, senior party functionaries, and party workers, who expressed support for the party’s stand on safeguarding democratic institutions and maintaining peace and stability.
