Manipur: Seven PREPAK (Pro) Cadres Arrested in Imphal West
IMPHAL, October 5, 2026: Manipur Police and central security forces arrested seven alleged cadres of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro), including a woman, during coordinated operations at different locations in Imphal West on October 4.
According to police, the arrests followed intelligence inputs regarding an alleged insurgent recruitment network and suspected links to the August 28 IED attack at the residence of an MLA from Konthoujam constituency.
Police identified Yumnam Athoibi Chanu as an alleged key operative in the August 28 attack, while RK Dayapati Devi was also suspected of involvement. Six adults were arrested along with a juvenile classified as a Child in Conflict with the Law (CCL).
Security forces also rescued a minor who was allegedly being held and groomed for recruitment into the outfit’s underground network.
A yellow Honda Activa 6G scooter bearing registration number MN01AJ 4957, suspected to have been used in the alleged activities, was seized during the operation.
The arrested individuals, juvenile and seized scooter were handed over to Lamphel Police Station. Further investigation and questioning are underway to establish the alleged recruitment network and its connection with the August IED attack.
