Manipur: Thanlon Development Block Returned to Churachandpur District

The Manipur government has shifted the Thanlon Tribal Development Block from Pherzawl district to Churachandpur district, restoring its administrative control under the latter.

The notification, issued in the name of the Governor of Manipur, was published in the Manipur Gazette Extraordinary No. 246 on Wednesday. The move was initiated by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department to align the block with the earlier revenue reorganisation that placed Thanlon Sub-Division under Churachandpur district.

Following the order, all government offices, public establishments and rural development schemes within the block will function under the Churachandpur district administration.

The change reverses the arrangement introduced in 2016 after the former Churachandpur district was divided. The realignment is expected to improve administrative coordination and facilitate access to government services for residents of remote hill villages.
