Caught on Camera: Overloaded Truck Overturns, Crushing Car and Killing One in Rampur
A tragic freak accident claimed one life in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district after an overloaded truck overturned and crushed a car beneath it, with the entire incident captured on CCTV.
The accident occurred on Sunday near Pahadi Gate under the jurisdiction of Ganj police station. According to police officials, a truck carrying a heavy load of husk lost control after striking the road divider. The impact caused the vehicle to topple sideways onto a Bolero car that was travelling alongside it, flattening the car completely.
The driver of the Bolero, identified as Firasat, a resident of the Ganj police station area, died on the spot due to the severity of the impact. Eyewitnesses said the car was crushed instantly, leaving no chance for survival.
After receiving information about the incident, police teams rushed to the spot. Due to the extent of damage, a JCB machine was deployed to remove the truck and debris and retrieve the body from the mangled car. The deceased was later sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.
Rampur Police said the overturned truck was cleared using a crane, following which traffic movement on the busy road was restored. Senior police officials also visited the accident site to assess the situation. “The truck has been removed, traffic has been normalised, and further legal proceedings are underway,” police said in an official statement shared on social media.
The horrifying accident was recorded by a nearby CCTV camera, and the footage has since gone viral on social media platforms. The visuals show the truck losing balance, overturning suddenly, and crushing the car beneath it, while husk from the truck spills across the road. The video has sparked widespread concern over road safety and the dangers posed by overloaded vehicles.
The CCTV footage also showed the words “Uttar Pradesh Government” written on the Bolero car, though police have not yet commented on this detail or clarified the vehicle’s ownership.
Authorities have initiated further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether negligence, overloading, or other violations were involved.
