Four Militants Held in Moreh Operation; Security Intensified Across Manipur
In a continued crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur Police and security forces arrested four members of valley-based insurgent groups during a joint operation in Moreh.
Arrests in Yangoubung Village
The operation was carried out on April 2 at Yangoubung village under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district, a strategically sensitive area along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
• Keisham Sumanta Meitei (25) – linked to PLA, from Imphal West
• Angom Somorjit Singh alias Nongsaba (32) – associated with NRFM, from Kakching district
• Yumnam Naoba Singh alias Shinsangamba (26) – member of KCP (MFL), from Imphal East
• Khundrakpam Shyamson Meitei alias Manganleiba (25) – also linked to KCP (MFL), from Thoubal district
Officials confirmed that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent networks operating in the region.
Heightened Security Across Manipur
Following the operation, security forces have:
• Intensified search operations and area domination exercises
• Increased surveillance in fringe and vulnerable zones
• Deployed additional personnel to prevent any untoward incidents
Ensuring Movement on National Highways
Authorities also focused on maintaining the smooth flow of essential supplies:
• A total of 276 vehicles were safely escorted along National Highway-37
• Security convoys were provided in sensitive stretches
• Efforts were made to ensure uninterrupted logistics and transportation
Extensive Checkpoints Deployed
As part of precautionary measures:
• 117 nakas (checkpoints) were set up across hill and valley districts
• These checkpoints aim to monitor movement and prevent illegal activities
• No detentions were reported during these checks
