Manipur Police Arrest Second G-5 Linked Cadre in Bishnupur Fuel Station Blast Case

Central security forces and Manipur Police commandos have arrested a second accused in connection with the bomb explosion at a fuel station in Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district, officials said on Friday.

According to the Manipur Police morning bulletin, Pukhrambam Bimol Meitei alias Inaobi (41), a resident of Wangoo Sabal Mayai Leikai in Kakching district, was arrested from Lamphel Sana Keithel under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district on January 14, 2026.

Police said he is an accomplice in the bomb blast that occurred at Elidas Fuel Station on the night of January 8, 2026, and is the second person arrested in the case. The accused is reportedly linked to the Group of Five (G-5), an alliance of five proscribed underground outfits.

During the arrest, security forces recovered a sub-machine gun (SMG) carbine with four magazines containing 107 live rounds, a 9 mm pistol with one magazine and five live rounds, two 36 HE hand grenades, two detonators, and a Honda Activa scooter.

Earlier, joint security forces arrested Hijam Manichandra Singh (35) of Waikhong Chingdong Leikai, Kakching district, from the Komnao Makha Leikai area under Waikhong Police Station. He is an active cadre of the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a constituent group of the G-5 alliance.

Police said both accused were involved in carrying out the explosion at the fuel station in Bishnupur district. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to the attack.
