Manipur Police, working with Border Affairs and other security forces, carried out an intelligence-led operation in Churachandpur district and recovered 20 soap cases containing brown sugar (about 236 grams, excluding packing) along with ₹3,87,100 in cash from a house in Songsibok Thingkangphai village; the house occupant Chinsiathang (52) was arrested for questioning. The operation follows an earlier seizure on August 19 in the same district when two suspects were arrested with 111 soap cases (about 1.3 kg) of brown sugar and vehicles were seized — all part of an intensifying anti- trafficking push in the region.
On August 22–24, 2025, Manipur Police and Border Affairs teams, acting on credible intelligence, recovered 20 soap cases containing brown sugar (weighing approximately 236 grams excluding packaging) and ₹3,87,100 in cash from a house in Songsibok Thingkangphai village; a 52-year-old man named Chinsiathang was taken into custody for questioning. This raid is linked, geographically and operationally, to a separate seizure on August 19 where two men were arrested with 111 soap cases (about 1.3 kg) of brown sugar, and a motorcycle and Bolero SUV were also seized. Taken together, these actions represent a concentrated anti-drug push in the Churachandpur area — a district long known to be vulnerable to cross-border smuggling.
