Manipur: Security Forces Bust Two Insurgent Camps, Seize Arms and Explosives

Imphal: In a significant counter-insurgency operation, security forces carried out coordinated raids across multiple districts of Manipur, dismantling insurgent infrastructure and recovering a large cache of arms and explosives.

Multi-District Crackdown

The operations were conducted in different sensitive locations, including ChurachandpurBishnupur district, and Imphal East district, reflecting an intensified effort to curb militant activities in both hill and valley areas.

Camp Dismantled in Dampi Ridge

A joint team of security personnel dismantled a suspected militant camp in the Dampi ridge areaunder Churachandpur police jurisdiction.

During the search, security forces recovered:

• One modified AK-47 rifle

• Two 9 mm pistols with magazines

• Two 12-bore rifles

• Two single-barrel muzzle-loading rifles

• Four improvised weapons locally known as pompis

81 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres

• Around 1 kg of explosive material

• Two bulletproof jackets

• Two walkie-talkie communication sets

This indicates the camp was actively being used for armed operations and coordination.

Arms Recovered Near Loktak Lake

In a parallel operation near Loktak Lake, security forces recovered additional weapons from Upokpi Khunou Mamang Leikai:

• One .32 pistol with magazine

• One single-barrel gun

• One high-explosive hand grenade

The recovery highlights continued concerns over weapon movement in fringe and rural areas.

Bunkers Destroyed in Imphal East

Further strengthening the crackdown, security forces:

Destroyed three bunkers located in the Satang Hill range

• Conducted operations under Sagolmang police station in Imphal East

These bunkers were believed to be used as defensive or offensive positions by armed groups.

No Arrests, Investigation Continues

• No arrests were made during the operations

• All recovered weapons and materials have been handed over to local police stations

• Investigations are underway to identify those involved and trace the network

Officials stated that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to:

Control illegal arms movement
