₹3.88 Crore Collected Through Traffic Challans in Manipur This Year
Traffic enforcement in Manipur has seen a sharp rise in 2025, with fines collected so far touching Rs 3.88 crore and more than 24,000 challans issued to traffic rule violators, according to official data.
Since the beginning of 2025 till date, the Traffic Control Police, Manipur have issued a total of 24,050 challans and collected Rs 3,88,09,000 as penalties for violations of traffic rules. The figures indicate a significant increase in both enforcement action and revenue compared to the previous year.
In contrast, during the entire previous year, only 4,980 challans were issued, and the total amount collected as fines stood at Rs 55,07,700. The steep rise this year reflects intensified checking, stricter enforcement measures, and increased monitoring of traffic violations across the state.
Month-wise data for 2025 shows consistent enforcement throughout the year. In February, 3,029 challans were issued, resulting in a collection of Rs 48,25,300. March recorded 3,251 challans with fines amounting to Rs 56,24,000, while April saw 3,156 challans and Rs 48,04,100 collected. In May, authorities issued 2,536 challans and collected Rs 36,88,800.
Although enforcement dipped in June with 962 challans and Rs 14,74,200 collected, the numbers rose again in July, when 2,526 challans were issued and Rs 42,02,500 collected. August recorded 1,627 challans with Rs 27,84,500 in fines, followed by September with 1,121 challans and Rs 20,03,600 collected.
In October, 780 challans were issued, generating Rs 14,18,500 in fines. November saw an increase with 1,320 challans and Rs 23,34,700 collected. In December, up to the date of reporting, 1,039 challans have been issued and Rs 16,79,700 collected.
Officials have attributed the rise in challans and fine collection to stricter enforcement drives, regular checking, and increased public awareness campaigns aimed at improving road safety. Traffic violations such as overspeeding, riding without helmets, not wearing seatbelts, driving without valid documents, and other rule breaches have been a major focus of enforcement.
Authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic rules strictly, stressing that the objective of intensified enforcement is not revenue generation but ensuring road safety and reducing accidents across Manipur.
