Auto Driver’s Daughter Wins Three Gold Medals in Physiotherapy Degree
Bengaluru, June 11: In an inspiring story of determination and academic excellence, Spandhana I., the daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver, has graduated with three gold medals in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) programme from a college affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
Spandhana completed her studies at Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy in Bengaluru. Her father, Indresh M., earns a living as an auto driver, while her mother, Girija, is a homemaker. Despite financial challenges, the family remained committed to supporting her education and aspirations.
Born and raised in Bengaluru, with family roots in Karnataka’s Mandya district, Spandhana said she always aimed to excel academically. However, she never expected to graduate with three gold medals.
“I hoped to perform well and perhaps receive one gold medal, but receiving three was completely unexpected. It was a wonderful surprise and a proud moment for me and my family,” she said.
Spandhana initially aspired to pursue a career in medicine through an MBBS degree. However, circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic altered her plans, leading her to choose physiotherapy as an alternative path.
What began as an unexpected choice soon turned into a passion. Through dedication, perseverance, and hard work, she excelled in her studies and emerged as one of the top-performing students in her programme.
Looking ahead, Spandhana plans to continue her academic journey by pursuing a Master’s degree in neurosciences. She hopes to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare sector and build a successful career in patient care and rehabilitation.
Reflecting on her achievement, she credited much of her success to the unwavering support of her parents and the guidance she received from her teachers and institution.
Her accomplishment stands as an inspiring example that determination, hard work, and family support can help overcome challenges and achieve extraordinary success.
