Manipur CM Launches LDA Website, Releases Loktak Waterbird Census Report

Imphal, September 15: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday launched the official website of the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and released the Waterbird Census Report – Loktak Ramsar 2026 at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal.

The new LDA website will provide information on Loktak Lake, conservation programmes, projects and activities, while promoting greater transparency and public participation.

The Loktak Ramsar 2026 Waterbird Census Report contains data on the population and diversity of waterbirds recorded around Loktak Lake. The findings are aimed at supporting biodiversity conservation and effective habitat management.

Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, is an important ecological resource of Manipur and supports both biodiversity and the livelihoods of local communities and fisherfolk.

The LDA is implementing measures for the protection, conservation, restoration and sustainable management of Loktak Lake and its associated wetlands.

The programme was attended by Minister Kh. Loken Singh, several MLAs, Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai, LDA Chairman A.K. Sinha, LDA Project Director H. Balkrisna Singh and other officials.
