Serving Manipur Rifles Havildar Among Three Arrested in Extortion Case

The Manipur Police Anti-Extortion Unit, along with the Imphal West district commando unit, arrested a serving Manipur Rifles Havildar and two suspected extortionists on Thursday over alleged extortion activities in Singjamei Wangma.

According to police, the arrests were made during targeted raids based on intelligence inputs regarding ongoing extortion in the area. A 9 mm service pistol, magazine and four live rounds were recovered from 44-year-old Waikhom Amarjit Singh, a Havildar of the 1st Manipur Rifles.

The other arrested suspects were identified as 40-year-old Okram Priyokumar Singh and 34-year-old Thongram Sunson Singh, both from Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Imphal West.

Police said the three suspects and the seized items were handed over to the concerned police station. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
