PM Modi Assures Support for Manipur’s Peace and Normalcy Efforts During Meeting with CM Khemchand

New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the Manipur Government of all possible assistance in its efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state during a meeting with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in New Delhi on Friday.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, the Chief Minister briefed Modi on the state government’s initiatives to improve the situation and rebuild trust among different communities.

Khemchand highlighted the resumption of Imphal–Dimapur–Guwahati bus services and efforts to ensure the smooth movement of goods-laden trucks along National Highway 37 (Imphal–Silchar) and National Highway 2 (Imphal–Dimapur).

The Chief Minister also urged the Prime Minister to approve the conversion of selected state highways into national highways and upgrade the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, to the status of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He further invited Modi to visit Manipur.

Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the state government’s efforts, observed that the situation in Manipur had improved, and assured that the state’s reasonable concerns would be addressed while keeping the aspirations of its people in mind.

The meeting focused on peacebuilding, improved connectivity, healthcare infrastructure and efforts to restore normalcy in Manipur.
