Manipur: 6,806 Farmers Receive ₹1.36 Crore Under PM-KISAN 23rd Installment
Imphal, June 20: The Manipur government has announced that a total of ₹1.36 crore has been credited to the bank accounts of 6,806 eligible farmers across the state under the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The financial assistance was released as part of the nationwide disbursement programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event held in Tarakeswar, West Bengal. The scheme continues to provide direct income support to millions of farmers across the country.
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh watched the live telecast of the programme and welcomed the continued assistance being extended to the farming community through the flagship welfare initiative. He noted that PM-KISAN has played a vital role in strengthening the livelihoods and economic security of farmers, who form the backbone of the nation’s economy.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmer families receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually, distributed in three equal installments directly into their bank accounts.
Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture, Manipur, has stepped up efforts to ensure uninterrupted delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries. Officials have made electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification and land record updation mandatory for farmers seeking to continue receiving assistance under the scheme.
To facilitate the process, a statewide land record updation drive was launched on June 15. Farmers have been advised to complete their eKYC through the official PM-KISAN portal using OTP authentication or by visiting their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) for biometric verification.
Authorities have also encouraged farmers to visit designated help desks established at fertilizer distribution centres with their Aadhaar cards and updated land ownership documents, including Jamabandi records. In hill districts, valid land certificates issued by village authorities and authenticated by the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) are being accepted for verification.
Officials further stated that benefits have been temporarily withheld in cases where land ownership was acquired after February 1, 2019, or where multiple members from the same family have applied for assistance, pending physical verification by the concerned authorities.
In addition, the state government has intensified awareness and registration campaigns at the grassroots level, particularly in districts such as Ukhrul and Kamjong, to expand enrolment under PM-KISAN and other farmer welfare programmes.
The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to supporting farmers, enhancing agricultural productivity, and improving rural livelihoods across Manipur.
