Manipur CM, Two Deputy CMs Likely to Meet PM Modi in Delhi

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen are likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in person in New Delhi, reportedly for the first time in several months amid the ongoing Kuki-Naga conflict.

The meeting is believed to have been called by the BJP central leadership and may take place today or tomorrow. However, the exact date and timing have not been officially confirmed.

Chief Minister Khemchand left Imphal Airport around 6 PM on Wednesday after attending the ‘Seve Jyoti Yatra’ at Kangla Fort.

The ongoing Kuki-Naga tensions are expected to be among the key issues discussed, along with the NRC and Census-related matters and other development projects in Manipur.

The Chief Minister and the two Deputy Chief Ministers may also meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior BJP leaders, though this remains unconfirmed.

Losii Dikho represents the Naga community, while Nemcha Kipgen represents the Kuki community, making their participation significant amid the ongoing tensions between the two communities.

The BJP-led government was formed with Yumnam Khemchand as Chief Minister, Losii Dikho as Naga Deputy Chief Minister and Nemcha Kipgen as Kuki Deputy Chief Minister, reflecting representation of the three major communities—Meitei, Naga and Kuki.
