Manipur: NCB Arrests Myanmar Drug Kingpin in Delhi, Busts ₹115 Crore Racket

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a Myanmar-based drug kingpin identified as Thancintuang, also known as Chintuang, in Delhi following an extensive cross-border surveillance operation.

Officials said the accused was a major supplier of methamphetamine and heroin operating through the Myanmar–Mizoram–Manipur–Assam–Tripura–Bangladesh trafficking corridor.

According to investigators, the syndicate handled narcotics valued at nearly Rs 115 crore and used a network of local facilitators, transport coordinators, and hawala operators to move drugs and launder money across multiple states.

The operation also led to the arrest of several associates, including alleged hawala operator Lalrampariand other logistics coordinators connected to the network.

Authorities said:

  • Multiple bank accounts and properties linked to the cartel have been frozen
  • Nearly Rs 100 crore in suspicious financial transactions were traced
  • The crackdown involved coordinated financial and operational investigations by the NCB and Enforcement Directorate (ED)

Officials described the operation as part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling entire trafficking ecosystems rather than only intercepting drug consignments.

The NCB stated that, in 2026 alone, authorities have:

  • Registered 31 NDPS-related cases in the Northeast
  • Arrested 54 drug traffickers linked to narcotics networks operating in the region

The latest arrest highlights growing concerns over transnational drug trafficking routes passing through the Northeast, particularly along the porous India–Myanmar border.
