Manipur: NIA, CRPF Arrest Two Suspects in Six Naga Civilians Murder Case
Imphal, Manipur: A joint operation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians in Manipur. Security agencies are continuing intensive operations to trace five other accused allegedly linked to the case.
According to police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Pradip and his wife Ayingbi, both residents of Leilon Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi district. They were apprehended during an early morning operation on July 10 based on specific intelligence inputs.
The operation was conducted in Leilon Vaiphei village under the jurisdiction of Leimakhong Police Station. Officials said search and seizure procedures were carried out at the location, and all necessary legal formalities were completed following the arrests.
The case pertains to the abduction of six Naga civilians from Leilon Vaiphei on May 13. Nearly a month later, on June 10, the bodies of the six victims were recovered, sparking widespread outrage and demands for justice across Manipur. Following the incident, the investigation was transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Earlier, while addressing protesters at Namdilong in Imphal West district, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh assured the public that the investigation was progressing steadily and that those responsible would be brought to justice. He stated that security agencies were actively searching for five other militants identified in connection with the abduction and killings.
Police said search operations remain underway in parts of Kangpokpi district as security forces continue efforts to arrest the remaining suspects and advance the investigation.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation and taking legal action against everyone found involved in the case.
