Manipur: Two Tangkhul Naga Men Killed in Highway Ambush in Ukhrul by Kuki Militants
In a fresh escalation of violence in Ukhrul district, two men from the Tangkhul Naga community were killed in an ambush allegedly carried out by suspected Kuki militants along National Highway 202.

• The attack occurred near T.M. Kasom village at around 2:35 PM
• The victims were travelling in two separate vehicles when they were targeted
• At least three other vehicles were damaged during the ambush
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as:
• S.W. Chinaoshang, a resident of Tashar village
• Yaruingam Vashum, also from Ukhrul district
Reports indicate that one of the victims was an ex-serviceman, adding to the gravity of the incident.

The ambush came just a day after another alarming development in the same district:
• An unexploded “pumpi” shell was recovered at Sinakeithei village
• The shell reportedly landed near a residential area at around 10:30 PM
• It failed to detonate, preventing potential casualties
Statement from Naga Body
The United Naga Council reacted to the incident, reiterating its commitment to peace while issuing a caution.
UNC president Ng Lorho stated that:
• Nagas seek peaceful coexistence with all communities
• However, continued violence and misinterpretation of their neutrality may force them to act in self-defence
