Manipur: Woman Arrested with 22 kg Methamphetamine Tablets Worth Rs 25 Crore in Churachandpur
Imphal, Manipur: A joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Manipur Police has arrested a woman and seized 22 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, commonly known as World is Yours (WY) tablets, during an anti-drug operation in Churachandpur district. Officials estimated the value of the seized narcotics at around Rs 25 crore in the illegal regional market.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday following specific intelligence inputs jointly developed by Manipur Police and other central enforcement agencies, including the NCB.
Based on the information received, the joint team carried out a search at the residence of Paominlin Munlo in Churachandpur, where they recovered approximately 22 kilograms of WY methamphetamine tablets packed in 19 separate packets, officials said.
During the raid, investigators also seized a Mahindra Bolero bearing registration number MN-01AS-6029, which is suspected to have been used for transporting the contraband.
According to preliminary findings, the seized narcotics are believed to have originated from Moreh, the international border town in Manipur, and were allegedly being transported towards Assam through an interstate trafficking network.
The arrested woman has been booked under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
Officials said investigations are continuing to trace the source of the consignment and identify other individuals believed to be involved in the drug trafficking network. Authorities are also examining possible interstate and cross-border links connected to the seizure.
The latest operation is part of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb the illegal trafficking of narcotics in Manipur, a state that has remained vulnerable due to its proximity to international borders.
