Amit Shah Meets Manipur CM Khemchand in New Delhi, Assures Centre’s Support
New Delhi, August 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at his official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday and assured that the Central government would work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Manipur.
The meeting took place at around 3 pm, during which the Chief Minister raised various issues concerning the state before the Union Home Minister. Shah gave a patient hearing to the matters discussed and assured Khemchand of the Centre’s support.
Amit Shah is also scheduled to visit Manipur in the first week of October, when he is expected to lay the foundation stone for the proposed Senapati Medical College and review other development projects in the state.
The new medical college in Senapati was recently approved by the Manipur Cabinet. The proposed institution is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the predominantly Naga-inhabited district.
During the meeting, Shah also appreciated the state government’s efforts in restoring the Imphal–Dimapur–Guwahati bus service and facilitating free movement along National Highway 2.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the state and Centre to address issues related to development, connectivity and the broader situation in Manipur.
