Four Naga Civilians Reportedly Killed in Ambush on IT Road by Kuki Militants
Kangpokpi, August 27, 2026: Fresh violence has been reported along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district, with four Naga civilians reportedly killed in an ambush allegedly carried out by armed Kuki groups. One person was injured and another is reported missing.
The victims have been identified as Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, founder and principal of Right Path School, T. Khullen; Mariakdibou Wijunamai and Anil Wijunamai, executive members of Makui Youth Club; and Japou MK, a student leader from Thonglang Akutpa.
Gaikamang Ringkangmai was reportedly injured, while Wisobou Charenamai, chairman of the Chawangkining Village Authority, remains missing.
The incident comes a day after Deputy Chief Minister Losi Dikho held a high-level meeting in Senapati with United Naga Council (UNC) representatives, focusing on peace, security and stability in the region. Senior security officials, including personnel from the CRPF, Assam Rifles and Senapati Police, also attended.
The reported killings have renewed concerns over civilian safety along the IT Road. The incident has not yet been officially confirmed by police, and further details are awaited.
