Manipur CM Releases Bilingual Souvenir Marking Rajarshi Bhagyachandra’s 228th Death Anniversary
Imphal, October 6, 2026: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh released a bilingual Burmese-Manipuri souvenir commemorating the 228th death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra on Tuesday.
The souvenir is scheduled to be distributed in Mandalay, Myanmar, on October 13, 2026, during the observance of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra’s 228th Punyatithi.
The programme was organised by the Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation (RBCF), Manipur. Distinguished guests included RK Shivachandra Singh, President of the Indo-Myanmar Fraternal Alliance; RK Jitendrajit Singh, President of RBCF, Manipur; Th. Dhanakumar Singh, General Secretary of RBCF; and Gita Sanman Awardee K. Brajamani Sharma.
The Chief Minister highlighted Rajarshi Bhagyachandra’s lasting contributions to Manipuri culture, spirituality and Vaishnavism. He also noted that the Raas Leela, regarded as one of Bhagyachandra’s greatest contributions, holds an important place in Indian classical dance and continues to inspire generations.
