Manipur: Police Rescue Minor Girl, Arrest Three in Suspected Trafficking Case
Manipur Police and Social Welfare officials rescued a minor girl and arrested three suspected traffickers during an early-morning operation in Keibi village, Imphal East, on Thursday.
The operation was launched after authorities received information late Wednesday night about an alleged plan to traffic several minor girls outside Manipur. Acting on the information, a joint team comprising Imphal East District Police and the District Women Police carried out the raid following approval from the state leadership.
Social Welfare Director Sheikh Abdul Hakim said the operation resulted in the rescue of the minor girl and the arrest of three suspects. A fourth suspect reportedly escaped and remains at large.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the rescued girl or the arrested individuals to protect the minor’s privacy and ensure the investigation is not affected.
Police are continuing their investigation and questioning the arrested suspects to determine the extent of the alleged trafficking operation and whether it has links to a wider interstate network.
