Manipur: Three Houses Torched After Suspected NSCN-IM Attack in Kangpokpi
Kangpokpi, Manipur: Three residential houses were reportedly set on fire in Kailenjang Kuki village in Kangpokpi district on Monday after suspected cadres of the NSCN-IM allegedly entered the village and opened fire, triggering fresh security concerns in the sensitive fringe areas of Manipur.
The incident took place around noon in Kailenjang, a village located in the vulnerable area along the Kangpokpi-Senapati district fringe. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Suspected NSCN-IM Cadres Allegedly Open Fire
According to local residents, a group of suspected NSCN-IM members entered the village while allegedly carrying sophisticated firearms.
The suspected cadres reportedly opened fire before setting three residential buildings ablaze. The incident caused panic among residents and led to concerns over the security situation in the area.
The houses reportedly belonged to village chief Nengneichong Chongloi and residents Kamkhohao Chongloi and Helthang Haokip.
Residents said the three houses were completely destroyed in the fire. Household belongings, valuables and important documents kept inside the buildings were also reportedly reduced to ashes.

However, the talks did not result in an agreement. The UNC reportedly maintained its four-point charter of demands, leaving the issue unresolved.
