SBI Advisory: Nationwide Bank Strike Scheduled for September 28–30

The State Bank of India (SBI) has advised customers to complete essential branch-related banking work before a three-day nationwide bank strike scheduled from September 28 to 30, 2026.

The strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) as part of its ongoing agitation. The forum had earlier observed a nationwide strike on September 11 and has also announced further protest action, including a continuous strike from October 26.

SBI has urged customers to complete transactions requiring branch visits in advance and use digital and alternative banking channels for routine banking needs during the strike.

Services expected to remain available

SBI said it is taking steps to maintain essential banking services, though branch operations may vary depending on employee participation.

Customers are expected to continue accessing:

  • ATMs and ADWMs for cash withdrawals and eligible services
  • Customer Service Points (CSPs) for selected banking facilities
  • Internet banking and mobile banking
  • YONO and UPI for fund transfers and payments

Services that may be affected

Services requiring physical documentation or direct assistance from bank employees could face delays or disruption. Cheque-related processing and other branch-dependent services may also be affected.

SBI has therefore advised customers to plan branch-related transactions ahead of the strike and use digital banking facilities wherever possible.
