Manipur: Rajasthan Man Arrested in RIMS Imphal Recruitment Fraud Case
A 30-year-old man from Rajasthan has been arrested in connection with an alleged recruitment fraud case involving impersonation in the Common Recruitment Examination conducted for Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
The accused, Jitendra Meena, a resident of Jeerota Ward No. 2 in Rajasthan, was arrested after discrepancies were detected during biometric verification at RIMS Imphal.
According to officials, Meena had applied for the 2024 recruitment examination under the Scheduled Tribe category. The examination, conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences, was held in Bhubaneswar on February 25, 2025. Based on the marks obtained, he was later appointed as a multi-tasking staff member at RIMS on August 18, 2025.
However, during biometric verification conducted at RIMS on March 13, 2026, authorities reportedly found that his fingerprints did not match the biometric records captured at the examination centre during the test.
An Assistant Public Prosecutor informed the court that the accused allegedly secured the job by using another individual to appear for the examination on his behalf or by manipulating the identity verification process.
Police arrested Meena on May 5 from the main gate of the RIMS administration block. He was produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West district, on May 6 and has been remanded to police custody till May 11 as investigations continue.
