Four Held in Separate Manipur Operations; Maharashtra Man Among Drug Suspects
Four individuals were arrested by security forces in Manipur during separate operations on Sunday in connection with alleged drug trafficking and insurgency-related activities.
In Imphal West, the Narcotics Affairs and Border Police (NAB) arrested 49-year-old Omprakash Anand Survana from Thane, Maharashtra, during an operation in the North AOC area. Security personnel allegedly recovered about 3.5 kg of ganja from his possession.
Following information gathered during the investigation, security forces set up a joint checkpoint at Heigrujam Mamang Leikai. They subsequently arrested 25-year-old Ngangom Rajesh Singh of Bishnupur district for his alleged connection with the same drug network.
Separately, Kakching District Police carried out an operation at Sora Bazar against suspected drug distribution. Police arrested 36-year-old Singa Sabanam of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district and allegedly recovered around 3.2 kg of WY tablets.
In another operation in Imphal East, police commandos acted on specific intelligence and arrested 22-year-old Kangabam Roshan Singh, alias Korou, from Khurai Laishram Leikai. Police identified him as an alleged active member of the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL).
The four arrested persons and the seized substances have been kept in police custody as investigations into the respective cases continue.
