RIMS Condemns Assault on BDS Student, Restricts Outsider Entry After 5 PM
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has condemned the reported assault attempt on a BDS student by an unidentified person on the institute campus and announced restrictions on outsider entry after 5 pm as an immediate security measure.
According to the RIMS Media Cell, the student was jogging on the campus at around 5:30 pm when a masked person wearing a hoodie allegedly approached her and attempted to hit her with a hammer. The student managed to evade the attack and escaped without serious injury.
The student and RIMS authorities have filed separate FIRs with the police, seeking investigation and necessary action.
RIMS described the incident as unacceptable and expressed concern over the safety of students, staff and other members of the institute community.
Following the incident, entry of outsiders for jogging, recreational activities and other non-essential purposes has been restricted after 5 pm until further notice. The measure has been introduced as a precaution to strengthen campus security.
RIMS has also advised its staff to carry and display valid institute identity cards while entering and staying on campus. The administration urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and asked students and staff to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities.
