CoTU Issues Final Warning to Manipur Government Over Economic Blockade

The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills, has issued a final warning to the Manipur government over what it described as a selective and inhumane economic blockade targeting the Kuki-Zo community.

CoTU demanded the strict and impartial implementation of the government’s August 28 directive against road blockades, alleging that essential commodities and emergency medical vehicles were being obstructed despite the National Highways remaining officially open.

The organisation alleged that disruptions involving sections of the Liangmai and Tangkhul communities were affecting the movement of Kuki-Zo people and essential supplies.

CoTU warned that if the alleged disruptions are not stopped immediately, it may impose counter-restrictions on the movement of Liangmai and Tangkhul people through Kuki-Zo-majority areas.

The organisation also called for accountability over past attacks and urged the government to take immediate steps to prevent further deterioration of the security situation.
